Golden State Warriors

News and Information
The Golden State Warriors have pretty much been a disaster this season and are floundering near the basement of the Western Conference.

The team has had their share of chemistry problems early on thanks to Stephen Jackson's bashing of head coach Don Nelson.

Jackson was doing everything he possibly could to get traded, but Nelson didn't really seem to care. The Warriors finally traded him to Charlotte, where Larry Brown will have to now deal with the headcase.

He has been pretty much a model citizen for the Bobcats so far, but I'm sure the Warriors aren't lamenting the deal.

Point guard Monta Ellis leads the team in scoring and assists with more than 24 points and five dimes a game. He seems to have recovered from that knee injury suffered while riding a moped last year, which was yet another one of those Warriors' distractions at the time.

There are a couple of young players on the roster that the Warriors may look to build around. Stephen Curry, Anthony Randolph and Anthony Murrow are all averaging double figures in scoring.

Curry and Randolph are perfect players for Nelson's system, although it's only a matter of time until a new sherriff is in town. Who knows where that might leave those guys.

Part of Golden State's problem is that they have lost a lot of the depth they had in recent years. The Warriors, while still not among the NBA's elite, used to have a ridiculously deep bench.

That was important giving the ultra-fast temp employed by Nelson, but a thinner bench this year seems to have hurt them. It's certainly showing up in their won-loss record and the standings.

The Warriors have no lack of talent, but they also don't have any discipline. It's probably time for Nelson to go or for an implosion of the current roster. Maybe both. Either way, this team is showing no signs of fighting for a playoff spot.
