Detroit Pistons 09-10 Season Wrap Up
Posted 4/21/2010
Some questionable decision making in the front office has taken the Detroit Pistons from NBA title contenders to bottom feeders in just a matter of years.
It seems that Detroit's biggest blunder was thinking that Chauncey Billups was on the decline and getting rid of him. Billups has shown that he is still a quality point guard while helping the Denver Nuggets become one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
With the money saved on Billups, the Pistons went out and handed Ben Gordon a big contract. Gordon can light it up in a hurry, but he is also a streaky player who too often goes and does his own thing.
For now, Richard Hamilton is the team's top scorer. Ironically enough, the head coach decided last year that it would be best if he came off the bench. Things have gone downhill in a hurry for the Pistons.
Heck, Will Bynum is the sixth leading scorer for the Pistons and he was stuck overseas looking for a job just a couple of years ago.
Of course, many of Detroit's problems can be traced back to their selection of Darko Milicic over a host of talented players like Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
Unfortunately for the Pistons, they are basically stuck with the same general roster until further notice. That means very little hope of a basketball revival in the Motor City.
