Dallas Mavericks 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/26/2011
The Dallas Mavericks are sitting in second place in the Southwest Division behind the NBA's best team, the San Antonio Spurs.
The Mavericks believe this may be their best chance to get back to the NBA Finals since their controversial loss to the Miami Heat in the early part of the decade.
That said, their title hopes took a big hit when Caron Butler injured his knee and was ruled out for the season. Butler maintains hope that he can return to the team if they make a deep playoff run.
Without Butler, the Mavericks have gone searching and found a player who can possibly help replace him. The team has picked up Peja Stojakovic, and they hope his knee problems are a thing of the past.
Dirk Nowitzki is doing his usual thing, averaging over 23 points and seven rebounds per game. Look for more of the same from him in the second half of the season.
The Mavericks are a tougher team on both sides of the ball than in years where they couldn't topple the top teams in the West. They hope that rugged play will help them finally win the NBA title.
