Chicago Bulls

News and Information
After a terribly disappointing 2007-2008 season, the Chicago Bulls haven't really done much better in 2008-2009.

The team hired Vinny Del Negro as its head coach, but he hasn't proven to be nearly as impressive on the court as he was in the interviews.

The Bulls drafted point guard Derrick Rose with the No. 1 overall selection, and he certainly hasn't disappointed. However, he isn't going to be able to single-handedly carry this team to the playoffs.

It also didn't help that Luol Deng has missed considerable time after all of the posturing by both he and the player regarding his contract leading into training camp.

Speaking of injuries, shooting guard Kirk Hinrich missed more than a month with an injury, which really hurt the team's outside shooting. Hinrich hasn't really been the same since the injury, so there is no telling if the prime of his career is already in the rearview mirror.

Chicago desperately needs some type of low post scoring threat. Tyson Chandler at least gave them a presence down there and cleaned up on the boards, but the team really has no one to fulfill that role now.

Drew Gooden leads the team with 8.6 rebounds per game, but he isn't the type of impact player that can take over games in the low post. The Bulls were hoping that Tyrus Thomas could become that guy, but while he has improved, he is still a long ways away.

To me, this seems like a team with an enormous amount of talent but absolutely no chemistry at all. There really isn't a player on the roster who looks to pass first, although I guess Rose oculd be that guy.

I like Rose and Deng a lot and the team should probably look to build around those two guys. Larry Hughes and Gooden are two veterans that need to be traded or cut because they aren't worth the money they are paid and have really never fit in on a good team.

At 22-29, the Bulls aren't out of the playoff race thanks to the fact they play in the much weaker Eastern Conference. However, they will have to go on some type of second half run to have a real shot at the postseason, and I'm not sure they have that in them.
