Charlotte Bobcats 2010 Playoffs Preview The Charlotte Bobcats not only recorded their first winning season in franchise history, but have also made the playoffs for the first time as well.

The team finished in fourth place of the Southeast Division yet still reached the playoffs. That's a real credit to the division that it will account for half of the teams in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

It's a huge step forward for a franchise that has a history of financial trouble and difficulty generating excitement and filling seats. A lot of the credit has to go to head coach Larry Brown, who is well on his way to his latest reclamation project.

Brown admitted what a struggle it has been to rebuild the franchise, saying that the loss of the Hornets several years ago was a big blow to professional basketball in North Carolina. Nonetheless, he has helped restore the excitement in the area for the sport.

Charlotte now has the unenviable task of trying to take down the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs. The Magic are less than a year removed from a trip to the NBA Finals, so it's a tall order for the Bobcats.

Gerald Wallace is going to be a matchup nightmare for whoever draws that assignment. He is athletic and plays much bigger than his frame. He can jump out of the gym, which makes him a threat to block shots and clean up on the glass.

The Bobcats took a big risk earlier in the year by trading for disgruntled shooting guard Stephen Jackson, but the trade couldn't have worked out better. He has provided the team with a major scoring option.

The Bobcats are going to have their hands full against the Magic and an upset is highly unlikely. That said, anything can happen in a short series. It just seems like a lot to ask of a young, inexperienced team.
