Boston Celtics 2011-12 Season Preview

Despite last year's disappointing playoff performance, Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers decided to return to the team rather than ride off into the sunset.
Rivers believes that the championship window for the Celtics hasn't closed just yet and that the team would have won the title last year if not for Rajon Rondo's injury.
Questions certainly remain about the trio of star veterans that make up the core of the Celtics, especially when it comes to the knees of Kevin Garnett.
It's also worrisome that the Celtics traded away Kendrick Perkins, their tough inside presence, for Jeff Green, a quality swingman but a player that hasn't really found a role in Boston yet. Adding insult to injury, Green will miss the entire season because of a heart condition requiring surgery.
Perkins really gave Garnett some help on the interior, and he was beloved by his teammates. In fact, you could argue that the trade may have cost them a chance at an NBA title last year and caused some chemistry issues down the stretch.
Boston should be able to make another run at an NBA title, but the window of opportunity could really slam shut at any moment. One significant injury or simply the weight of another season on the legs of the three stars could be enough to start a rebuilding process in Beantown.
