Atlanta Hawks 2010-11 Mid-Season Review
Posted 1/25/2011
The Atlanta Hawks have picked up where they left off from the past two seasons, currently holding onto second place in the Southeast Division.
Some thought maybe the team should break apart when Joe Johnson and Josh Smith became free agents, but Atlanta's front office decided to keep them together.
Johnson, while probably vastly overpaid, is a quality veteran who is good for almost 20 points a night. He is a great role model for a lot of the younger, less mature players on the team. That's something you can't put a price on.
Atlanta is still missing that dominant post presence, which is why they will likely have problems in the playoffs once they run into a team with a quality big man like the Boston Celtics or Orlando Magic.
That said, Atlanta has a lot of tall, athletic players who can create matchup problems for almost any playoff team. They are a very difficult matchup, and won't be an easy out in the postseason.
