That said, the Rangers do feature a quality ace in C.J. Wilson, who would probably be better off as a No. 2 starter on most playoff teams. Wilson has pitched well in previous postseasons, however, so he certainly won't be overwhelmed by the pressure that comes along with tight playoff games.
Texas faces off against Tampa Bay to open up the postseason in a matchup that features a great hitting team against one with terrific pitching. It will be interesting to see which side ultimately wins out.
Tampa Bay had to really scrape and claw their way into the postseason, so the Rangers are hopeful that some of their energy will have been sapped from a stressful September.
The Rangers have been close to winning the World Series in recent years, but it's hard to see them getting it done this year without a true ace. Look for them to sneak past Tampa Bay and fall to whichever team awaits them in the American League Championship Series.
