O' Connor option to Triple-A

The Washington Nationals have optioned pitcher Mike O' Connor back to Triple-A Columbus.

O' Connor was 0-1 with a 13.00 ERA in five games for the Nationals this year.

In a corresponding move, the team recalled pitcher Chris Schroder from Columbus.

Schmidt makes rehab start

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jason Schmidt made his first rehab start, going one scoreless inning in Class A ball.

It was the first time Schmidt had pitched since undergoing shoulder surgery last June.
