Milwaukee Brewers 2011 Playoffs Outlook
Posted 10/4/2011
The Milwaukee Brewers finally caught fire in the middle of the summer and rode that wave of momentum all the way to a National League Central division title and postseason berth.

In my mind, the Brewers are the only team in the NL with a chance to derail Philadelphia's path to the World Series.

The Brewers certainly can't match Philadelphia's starting rotation pitch for pitch, but they do have some starters capable of making life tough on opposing hitters. Zack Greinke shook off a terrible start to the season to finish strong and Shawn Marcum pitched pretty well all season long.

Milwaukee has plenty of firepower in a lineup that features Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks and Ryan Braun. Fielder is among the contenders for the National League MVP award after putting together a tremendous season that will help him cash in on a big contract in a few months.

It looks like the Brewers have a fair chance to at least get past the first round where they will meet a very young and inexperienced Arizona Diamondbacks ballclub. However, it's likely that they will then run into the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS, and while they may push them to Game 6 or 7, it's hard to see the Brew Crew advancing to the World Series.
