Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was signed to a seven-year extension, keeping the All-Star in Denver for a long time to come. If Tulowitzki could just avoid these freak injuries, he would quickly become one of the top players in the game.

The Rockies made one of the most underrated moves of the offseason when they signed Ty Wigginton to a two-year deal. He isn't a star by any means, but his ability to play almost any position is extremely valuable.

Wigginton could see a significant amount of his playing time at first base as Todd Helton's career continues to wind down. He was never a big power hitter, but Helton's home run totals have dropped significantly over the past few years.

Colorado's biggest hurdle remains their starting rotation and getting quality pitchers to come to Coors Field. Nobody wants to pitch in a stadium where balls sail over the fences, which is a big disadvantage come playoff time.

The Rockies will once again be a serious threat to win the division, but they could certainly help their cause by playing well for an entire season. The team never seems to start playing its best baseball until August, which always puts them in catch-up mode.
