Temple Owls 2010-11 Basketball Season Preview
Posted 11/4/2010
The Temple Owls have finally returned to the national scene after a brief absence following the firing of head coach John Chaney.
Despite reviving the program, head coach Fran Dunphy has lead Temple to three straight first round eliminations in the NCAA tournament. Last year's result was the most disappointing since many analysts felt Temple was primed for an extended run.
The good news is that Temple still finished last year ranked as the No. 12 team in the country and returns three starters from the group.
Lavoy Allen is the team's best player and will be expected to produce most of the team's inside scoring. Juan Fernandez is an extremely dangerous outside shooter and should help to loosen up the defense converging on Allen.
The Owls are certainly the favorites to win the Atlantic 10 crown, though they will have to fend off a talented Richmond squad. With the talent on their roster, it would be surprising if Temple doesn't break their unfortunate NCAA tournament losing streak come March.
