The Syracuse Orange was considered a legitimate threat to win last year's national championship, but a key injury to their star center lead to a premature exit from the NCAA tournament.
A lot of key players from last year's team have moved on, leaving head coach Jim Boeheim to undergo a mini-rebuilding period. The biggest loss is forward Wesley Jefferson, who left early to become a top pick in the NBA Draft.
The cupboard isn't completely bare of Boeheim, and you can never count out the legendary coach. Rick Jackson, Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph all return and will have prominent roles for the 'Cuse.
Like usual, Syracuse has an impressive incoming freshman class lead by Baltimore forward C.J. Fair. Boeheim has been very successful in the past with players out of Baltimore, so a lot is expected of Fair.
The Big East isn't quite as stacked as it usually is, and that's good news for Syracuse. They should be in the mix to compete for the league title, but it's likely that Villanova, Pittsburgh or UConn will be too much to handle.
