Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2010 Mid Season Review
Posted 11/5/2010
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their fans had a lot of optimism heading into the season with head coach Brian Kelly coming in to turn the program back into one of the nation's elite.
The season got off to a decent start despite a tough schedule, but the Irish have faded down the stretch. The team lost back-to-back games to Navy and Tulsa, which is completely unacceptable. With Notre Dame's tough schedule, they have to pull out wins against those type of opponents.
There are now questions surrounding Kelly's coaching ability and if he is going to be capable of restoring greatness to the Notre Dame football program.
As if the recent losses wasn't enough, the program is trying to overcome the death of a student who filmed football practice and was killed when a big gust of wind toppled the scissor lift he was using.
Winds were gusting over 50 MPH, and officials are trying to figure out who is responsible for the accident. Some are pointing the finger at Kelly, blaming him for allowing the student to use the lift on a day when conditions were so dangerous.
Notre Dame's remaining schedule isn't a piece of cake, either, meaning the Irish are unlikely to quality for a bowl and will probably finish out the year with a losing record.
