2011 Allstate Sugar Bowl Predictions
Posted 12/7/2010
The Ohio State Buckeyes and Arkansas Razorbacks will face off in the All-State Sugar Bowl on January 4 at 8:30 p.m. at the Superdome in New Orleans.
Ohio State came into the season with national championship hopes, but those came crashing down in a trip to Camp Randall. Instead, they settled for tying for the Big 10 title but lost out on a trip to the Rose Bowl via a tiebreaker.
Quarterback Terrelle Pryor played well much of the year but struggled when facing better teams. He didn't do much to improve his NFL stock, but the bowl game offers a chance to show what he can do on a big stage.
The Razorbacks nearly knocked off Alabama and are lead by quarterback Ryan Mallett, who is expected to be a high pick in the NFL Draft. He has a big arm but a long wind-up and can struggle with his accuracy.
Ohio State's defense should be the difference, though it's important to note how the Buckeyes have struggled against the speed of SEC schools in recent bowl games.
Prediction: Ohio State 24, Arkansas 20
