2012 Rose Bowl Preview
Posted 12/7/2011
The Rose Bowl features a matchup of the Big 10 and Pac-12 champions, and this year that means the Oregon Ducks and Wisconsin Badgers collide on January 1 at 5:00 p.m.

If you like lots of offense, make sure you tune in for this one, and don't blink or change the channel. These are two of the top scoring teams in the country and neither team is particularly imposing defensively, so the scoreboard should get quite a workout in this one.

The Badgers were considered a national title contender before the start of the season when Russell Wilson announced he would transfer from NC State to Wisconsin. He certainly hasn't been a disappointment, putting up huge numbers and almost single-handedly carrying his team to the conference title.

Oregon also came into the season as a national title contender, but their hopes took a huge blow in the season opener when they were thumped by the only undefeated team left standing, LSU. They are lead by dynamic running back LaMichael James, who has been banged up this year but played through some of the pain.

While James may get a lot of the attention, don't forget about Wisconsin running back Montee Ball. He had a tremendous season and was also a Heisman Trophy candidate.

Neither team has been held to fewer than 27 points this season, and I wouldn't expect anything to suddenly change now. The team will the ball last is likely to win the game.

Prediction: Wisconsin 38, Oregon 35
