The Oklahoma Sooners will play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Insight Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ, on December 30 at 10:00 p.m. (ET)

For a team that came into the season ranked No. 1 in the country and was expected to compete for a national championship, Oklahoma is beside itself that the holiday season will be spent preparing for the Hawkeyes in a December bowl game.

The wheels fell off the cart at the end of the year for the Sooners, who lost two of their last three games, including an embarassing loss to rival Oklahoma State in the season finale. To be fair, Oklahoma was hit with a lot of injuries down the stretch, but the Sooners should still be ashamed of the way they finished.

Iowa has won three consecutive bowl games and is playing in Tempe, Ariz., for the second straight year. Most of Iowa's losses this year were close, and they did manage to knock off Michigan and Pittsburgh.

While Iowa had a decent season and Oklahoma's was a massive disappointment, there is a huge disparity in talent between the two teams. Oklahoma has numerous future NFL players on their roster, some of them first round picks. As long as they can get up for this game, they should roll.
