2011 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Preview
Posted 12/7/2011
The Texas Longhorns will take on the California Golden Bears in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on December 28 at 8 p.m. (ET)
It was another disappointing season for the Longhorns under head coach Mack Brown, who might soon start to feel the heat over the team's recent struggles.
Though still ranked #22 in the country, Texas comes in having lost three of their final four games. They also lost every game they played this year against a ranked opponent, which shows there is either a coaching or recruiting issue with the Longhorns at the moment.
California is the hotter team at the moment, coming in having won three of their past four games, including a three-point loss to the highly-ranked Stanford Cardinal. Jeff Tedford's job is certainly on the line, but it seems like his team has gone to bat for him with their performance down the stretch.
If nothing else, California certainly has the homefield advantage with the game being played just down the road. Then again, Texas has a huge fanbase that travels well, but wi11 their disgruntled fans be excited to go watch their team play in this bowl game?
Prediction: Texas 23, California 20
