2009 GMAC Bowl Predictions
Posted 12/22/2008
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will take on the Ball State Cardinals in the GMAC Bowl on January 6 at 8 p.m. in Mobile, Alabama.
Tulsa lost just three games all season, coming at the hands of East Carolina and at Arkansas and Houston.
They didn't have many marquee wins, but the Golden Hurricane can put up points on the board with the best of them. Ball State is also a high scoring team, so expect a wild west shootout.
Ball State had an outstanding season and was undefeated until a surprising loss to Buffalo in the conference championship game.
Before they lost to Buffalo, they had an offer to play in the Humanitarian Bowl against undefeated Boise State but ultimately turned it down. Many felt they decided against it because they wanted to have an undefeated season, but it all turned out to be for naught anyway.
The Cardinals had several quality wins, including victories over the Navy Midshipmen and at the Indiana Hoosiers.
As I said before, both teams put a ton of points on the board and neither puts a real premium on defense, so expect a ton of offense. The team will the ball last will probably end up the winner.
Ball State quarterback Nate Davis very well may be the difference maker after throwing for more than 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns this year.
Prediction: Ball State 37, Tulsa 35
