2011 Gator Bowl Predictions
Posted 12/7/2010
The Mississippi State Bulldogs and Michigan Wolverines will face off in the Gator Bowl on January 1 at 1:30 p.m. at Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville.
This is essentially a must-win game for head coach Rich Rodriguez if he wants to keep his job, and even that might not be enough.
Both teams employ a spread-option style of offense, but the Bulldogs' defense is in a different world than Michigan's. The Wolverines gave up an awful lot of points to some sluggish Big 10 offenses, and Mississippi State's speed could cause them big problems.
The game will likely come down to whether Denard Robinson can stay healthy and play the entire game. If he can, the Wolverines will at least have a chance. If not, the Bulldogs will be able to slow down the Michigan offense and roll to a victory.
Prediction: Mississippi State 35, Michigan 31
