2012 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Preview
Posted 12/7/2011
The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl features a showdown between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Stanford Cardinal on January 2 at 8:30 p.m.
Oklahoma State has to be one of the most disappointing teams in the country this holiday season, which is crazy since they are playing in one of the top bowl games. The Cowboys felt they deserved to be playing the LSU Tigers for the national championship, not Alabama.
Stanford also isn't thrilled to be here, as they were also considered a national title contender before the start of the season. Andrew Luck had a fine season, but many believe the Heisman Trophy candidate has been somewhat of a disappointment given all of the preseason hype.
While the future NFL No. 1 draft pick will get most of the attention, don't sleep on two terrific players from Oklahoma State. Quarterback Brandon Weeden's had a huge year, and a big reason why is wide receiver Justin Blackmon. He will also be a future first-round NFL Draft pick.
This should be another high scoring game much like the Rose Bowl, with two potent offenses lead by two very good quarterbacks. It might be another situation where the team that has the ball at the end of the game is that one going to win.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 34, Stanford 31
