2012 AT&T Cotton Bowl Preview
Posted 12/7/2011
The Kansas State Wildcats will take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in the AT&T Cotton Bowl on January 6 at 8:00.
Kansas State has been one of the feel-good stories of the season as Bill Snyder came out of retirement to help turn the program around. It's amazing that at his age, his mere presence as a part of the program has turned the Wildcats into a BCS team once again.
The Wildcats lost only two games this year. Falling to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is hardly anything to be ashamed of, and the team also managed to take down Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M and Miami.
The Arkansas Razorbacks had quite a season as well thanks to their quarterback and a number of big, fast wide receivers. They are a team that can put up points in bunches, and their defense is a little underrated because it gets overshadowed by their explosive offensive attack.
Arkansas made a late push at the SEC title but fell short, as so many have, in a key showdown against LSU in the last week of regular season play. Their only other loss came at the hands of Alabama, so you could make an argument that they are the third-best team in the country.
Kansas State had a great season, but it's really hard to see them getting past Arkansas. The Razorbacks are simply too explosive offensively, and the Wildcats just won't be able to keep up.
Prediction: Arkansas 38, Kansas State 31
