2009 EagleBank Congressional Bowl Prediction
Posted 12/22/2008
The EagleBank Congressional Bowl is being played for the first time ever and will take place December 20 at 11 a.m. at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
The game will be a rematch from an earlier contest this season between the Navy Midshipmen and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest will be looking to exact some revenge after suffering an upset loss at home to the Midshipmen.
It's very difficult to beat the same team twice in one season, and the game is likely to hinge on how well Navy's strong rushing attack matches up against Wake Forest's stingy defense.
The Demon Deacons have struggled to put points on the board this year, and it has ultimately been their downfall. A lot of people have criticized quarterback Riley Skinner, but I have never seen a team drops as many passes as Wake Forest.
If Skinner could get just a little help from his wide receivers, Wake would have more success on offense. It would also help to open up their running game, which is built on misdirection and hasn't come close to matching last year's success.
It's also worth noting the homefield advantange for Navy, which will playing just 20 miles or so away from home. That will likely result in a huge contingent of Navy fans filling up the stadium, and they will be excited.
Prediction: Wake Forest 20, Navy 17
