2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl Predictions
Posted 12/22/2008
The LSU Tigers will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on December 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta.
It was a disappointing season for LSU, which had hopes of defending their national championship but came up well short of that goal. It all started to unravel when quarterback Ryan Perriloux was kicked off the team in the spring.
The quarterback play was shaky at best throughout the season, and their defense was clearly hurt by numerous graduated players heading off to the NFL.
They didn't exactly end the season on a positive note either, losing their final two games. In their third to last game of the season, the Tigers had to rally back from a 31-point deficit at home to beat lowly Troy.
Georgia Tech had a great season but has to be disappointed they weren't able to win their division and play for the ACC title. They ended the regular season on a great note, notching a come-from-behind win over rival Georgia.
Two of their losses were very close, and they managed to beat such notable teams as Florida State, Clemson, Miami and Boston College.
Head coach Paul Johnson did an outstanding job in his first year with the Yellow Jackets, and his team seemed to buy into his option style of offense.
Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, LSU 16
