2011 Belk Bowl Preview
Posted 12/7/2011
The North Carolina State Wolfpack will face off against the Louisville Cardinals in the Belk Bowl on December 27 at 8:00 p.m.
For the Wolfpack, it was a disappointing and trying season. Head coach Tom O' Brien essentially kicked star quarterback Russell Wilson off the team after he decided to play minor league baseball rather than attend summer workouts. Wilson went on to lead Wisconsin to a Big 10 title while Mike Glennon struggled throughout the year.
NC State had to rally back from a huge second-half deficit against the Maryland Terrapins in the season finale just to qualify for a bowl game, so this is hardly a team coming in playing great football.
The Louisville Cardinals won five of their last six games, and all of their losses over the course of the season were by nine points or less. Then again, it wasn't like they played the best competition considering they are in the Big East conference.
This game could really go either way, as neither team is really that good. I saw a lot of NC State this year and really didn't like what I saw from their quarterback, so I expect the Cardinals to come out on top.
Prediction: Louisville 20, North Carolina State 13
