The Georgetown Hoyas were one of the most disappointing teams of last season, and it was their quick exit from the NCAA tournament that caused a lot of the angst.
Georgetown was beaten handily by the Ohio Bobcats in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, sending a potential Final Four team back home before they even had a chance to unpack.
Center Greg Monroe opted to forgo his final years of eligibility, entering his name into the NBA Draft. He was the perfect big man for John Thompson III's Princeton offense, and the void will be nearly impossible to fill.
The good news is that Georgetown returns its other four starters, which should help in terms of chemistry. They also should be deeper this year, which means their starters should be fresher at the end of games and in the latter stages of the season.
Georgetown should have excellent guard play with the return of Austin Freeman and Chris Wright. Freeman has the ability to take over games, but his physical conditioning is questionable at times.
The Hoyas should once again be a part of a large, competitive group fighting for the Big East crown. If they can find a way to replace Monroe's production, a trip to the Final Four isn't out of the question.
