Auburn Tigers 2010 Mid Season Review
Posted 11/4/2010
It was just a couple of years ago when the Auburn Tigers hired head coach Gene Chizik, and a lot of the fans and boosters were up in arms over the decision.

For a school where football is life, fans felt Chizik was hardly the big name hire they needed to bring them another national championship. While most Auburn fans are very intelligent football fanatics, they called this one all wrong.

Chizik has turned the Tigers from a defensive team into an offensive juggernaut and a legitimate national championship contender.

Chizik gets a lot of the credit, but it doesn't hurt that he has a phenomenal talent at quarterback in Cameron Newton. The athletic freak can do it all, even catching a touchdown pass against Mississippi.

Newton is particularly lethal when he takes off running with the ball. He is not only fast and quick, but has the size to scare away defensive backs and run over opposing defenders.

The big hurdle for Auburn is their late season showdown with Alabama. If they can get past the rival Crimson Tide, only the SEC championship game would stand in their way of a shot at the BCS national title.
