The Alabama Crimson Tide ran through the gauntlet last season on their way to a national championship, and this year's 2010 team returned several of the key pieces that helped them reach the top of the college football world.
However, it's almost impossible to get through the SEC schedule without a loss, and it's even harder when you have a target on your back. The inevitable finally happened when Alabama was blitzed on the road by South Carolina.
Since that time, the Crimson Tide has been able to regroup and hasn't lost a game, keeping alive their slim national championship hopes. Their performances have hardly been dominant, but a win is a win.
Part of Alabama's problem has been the key losses on their defense from last year. The unit hasn't been dominant, and has been poor at times, putting pressure on the offense to put a lot of points on the board.
Alabama still has a huge showdown looming against bitter rival and undefeated Auburn. If Alabama can knock off Auburn and then win the SEC championship game, it wouldn't be surprising if they slipped through the back door and into the national title game.
