The women's Super Combined event is an alpine skiing event that involves one downhill run and two runs of slalom in that order.

The Super G has also been introduced, in which a giant slalom run can replace two individual slalom runs.

It first became an Olympic sport all the way back in 1936 and has been a mainstay ever since then. It is not to be confused with nordic combined, which has an element of jumping involved.

The United States has had some past success in the women's super combined event, but they have come home empty handed in the medal department at the past two Olympics.

Picaboo Street emerged from nowhere to shock the world and win the gold medal all the way back in 1998 while Diann Raffe also took home gold back at the 1994 Olympics.

The U.S. is hoping that they can make up for futility at the past two Olympics with a strong performance at the 2010 games in Vancouver, which will be a relatively short trek for its athletes.

Maybe this is the year that another Picaboo emerges from the depths of obscurity and emerges on the scene as a national hero with a remarkable Olympic performance.
