The 2010 Winter Olympic Snowboard competition takes place at Cypress Mountain just west outside of Vancouver. Here men and women will display their snowboarding prowess in three different events: Halfpipe, Parallel Giant Slalom and Snowboard Cross. Come watch as these athletes combine elements of surfing, skateboarding and skiing to compete in games that represent one of the fastest growing sports, all in hopes of taking home the Gold.

The women's snowboard halfpipe is an event much like that found in skateboarding where competitors do tricks as they go back and forth between two ramps.

The competition takes place in a showdown between two athletes, with the winner advancing and the loser going home.

The tricks are judged and given scores, and the athletes with the highest score is declared the winner.

Like in the men's halfpipe event, the United States women claimed the gold and silver medals.

Hannah Teter brought home the gold medal while Gretchen Bleiler did enough to hold on for the silver.

The Americans missed out on sweeping the three medals thanks to a third place finish from Kjersti Buass of Norway.

Also like the men, the women had someone finish fourth as well. The unfortunate finish went to Kelly Clark, who just missed out on a medal. The team also had an athlete finish in sixth place.

The United States will certainly be hoping to repeat those same results or even best them at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
