Women's Snowboard Giant Slalom Olympic Preview
Posted 7/12/2009
The women's snowboard giant slalom features competitors making their way down a steep, snow-covered course.
The giant slalom in snowboarding is very much similar to is original counterpart in the skiing world.
In the 2006 Winter Olympics, Switzerland claimed the gold while Germany was able to bring home a silver medal.
The United States was respectable despite facing tough competition with the European countries, as Rosey Fletcher came in third place to take the bronze medal.
Fletcher will be back next year to try and improve on her finish at the 2006 Olympics and lead the U.S team into action.
The U.S women's team managed to be much more successful than their men counterparts back in 2006 and will certainly be looking for more success in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
