2010 Luge - Women's Tickets

The women's luge is similar to the bobsled, except that it is ridden by either one or two people.

The sport was first introduced at the Olympics back in 1964.

The doubles competition is open to females, but there is only a competition designed for men. Rarely do females compete.

Women generally do very well in the event because one of the keys is to create as little resistance as possible.

Because most women tend to be much smaller than men, they also often present less resistance going down the course.

There are also other important variables, such as weight restrictions on the sled to ensure a fair race.

Germany, Italy and Austria are the powerhouses of the luge and account for almost all of medals awarded at the Winter Olympics in the event.

Look for these teams to once again dominate in the 2010 games, but maybe another country will pull off a surprise upset.
