Speed Skating - Men's Tickets

Speed skating is a sport that has always been one of the most popular and exciting at the Olympics. It is also a sport in which the Americans have fared well, particularly from the men's side.

Speed skating is personally one of my favorite events. It always amazes me how fast the athletes can fly around the ice. I also appreciated the fact that there are several different events, ranging from a sprint to a marathon.

It also doesn't hurt when there is the occasional crash that takes down a number of skaters, either. The sport has experienced immense popularity in both the Netherlands and Norway.

Interestingly enough, speed skating was initially included in the Summer Olympics before they were eventually moved to the Winter Games.

For the United States, Apollo Anton-Ohno is currently the top male skater and the team's best hope to bring home some hardware in the Vancouver Games.

He already has several medals in his trophy case at home from past the past couple of Olympics, including a few golds.

Of course, this has always been a sport in which the United States has been successful, going all the way back to the legends of Dan Jansen and Bonnie Blair.

Things weren't always so great for Jansen, a skater who always had a ton of talent but could never seem to put it all together when it came to Olympic competition. If there was a skater more prone to bad luck and untimely falls, I'd like to see him.

Jansen eventually rode off into the sunset in a blaze of glory, winning a gold medal in one of his final races in Olympic competition.
