Skiing - Nordic Combined

News and Information
The Nordic Combined event is one of the most traditional out of all of those you will see in the Winter Olympics.

In fact, it has been practiced all the way back to the 18th century by Norwegian soldiers. The first major, official event occurred back in 1892 in Oslo. It first became an Olympic sport back in 1924.

Norway has long dominated the event, with Finland and Austria also putting forth a strong showing. The United States has failed to make an impact, as the country has never medaled in the event.

The great thing about the Nordic Combined is that the event combines the best parts of skiing. Both the speed element and the jumping of hills is vital to achieving success in this event.

The jumping portion comes first, followed by the free technique cross country race.

There are also several different events in the Nordic Combined, ranging from a sprint to a marathon and individual to team competition. In the team competition, teammates line up behind one another so as to catch the least amount of air resistance possible. It allows the team to move as quickly as possible and catch up to others, particularly other individuals who may have separated from their team.

If you are an avid ski fan who wants to see all that the sport has to offer, this is the event for you check out! Get your tickets from Great Seats today!
