Men's Snowboard Giant Slalom Olympic Preview
Posted 7/12/2009
The men's snowboard giant slalom features competitors making their way down a steep, snow-covered course.
The giant slalom in snowboarding is very much similar to is original counterpart in the skiing world.
Switzerland dominated the event at the 2006 Winter Olympics, winning both the gold and silver medals.
Austria was able to claim the bronze, proving that this event might be a stranglehold for European countries in future Olympic games.
While the United States typically does well in snowboarding events, the giant slalom has not been one of their more successful endeavors.
The United States will certainly be looking to change all of that heading into the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Be sure to check out the men's giant slalom if you get a chance to head to Vancouver for the Winter Games.
