Men's Aerials Olympic Preview
Posted 7/12/2009
Aerial skiing is often referred to as freestyle skiing and allows athletes to show off their tremendous amount of skills.
It became a demonstration sport at the 1988 Olympics and was finally added to the official program back in 1994.
The United States struggled in the event at the 2006 Winter Games, failing to medal. Jeret Peterson finished the highest out of all of the Americans, coming in seventh place.
Aerial skiing is a sport in which the United States should be one of the countries to beat given its X-Games nature.
You can bet that the U.S. will be looking to make up for their lackluster performance in 2006 with a much stronger effort at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
This is definitely an event that you won't want to miss and it has clearly gained popularity since becoming an official Olympic sport.
I urge anyone who has the good fortune of attending the 2010 Winter Olympics to check out this great, evolving discipline of skiing.
