Tennessee Titans players saw a familiar face as the team closed out training camp on Wednesday. Former Titans quarterback Steve McNair paid a visit to his own stomping grounds, a place he called home for his first 11 seasons in the NFL. Some were surprised that McNair would stop ......

Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse is very high on the team's defensive unit, comparing it to that of the one they had when they went to the Super Bowl in 1999. The team wasn't too shabby last year, finishing fifth in total defense, a number which Kearse said ......

Tennessee Titans Season Preview

The Tennessee Titans stunned everyone by making the playoffs in 2007, and the team is now looking to show it is more than just a one-hit wonder heading into 2008.

Maybe the most impressive aspect about the teams playoff berth was the fact quarterback Vince Young really didnt improve much from 2006 to 2007. The good news is that the team was able to make the playoffs despite his disappointing season. The bad news is that he is entering his third season in the NFL and needs to show some significant improvement this year.

Lucky for Young, the team went out and got him a little help on the offensive side of the ball in the offseason. Tennessee took advantage of Atlantas house cleaning by signing tight end Alge Crumpler. Crumpler will give Young a safety valve, and he should thrive in an offense that has always been good to tight ends.

The Titans also went out and selected running back Chris Johnson in the NFL Draft, which ended up being a controversial pick. While Johnson is a fine running back and should help LenDale White in the backfield, the Titans desperately need a talented wide receiver.

On the defensive side of the ball, the team gave defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth the franchise tag. Haynesworth clearly wasnt pleased that he wasnt given a long-term deal, but the Titans are wary that their defensive tackle wont be motivated if given such a contract.

It will be interesting to see how Haynesworth plays this year, as he will need to have another monster season if he wants to cash in at the end of it.

Also on defense, the Titans traded away cornerback Pacman Jones in return for a fourth round draft pick. While they have rid themselves of a chronic distraction, Jones is an impact player who really could have helped their defense in 2008. Only time will tell as to whether or not they made the right move.

The Titans won virtually on defense alone last season, and while the unit is still very good, they are likely to slip a little bit from last year.

While this team is slightly better on offense, they were pretty lucky to make the playoffs last year. Barring a strong showing from their young quarterback, the Titans look like they will be watching the playoffs from home this season.
