2008 St Louis Rams Season Preview Injuries decimated the St. Louis Rams in 2007, leaving them with one of the worst records in all of football.

However, with some of their top players back and 100 percent healthy, 2008 should bring much better results.

Quarterback Marc Bulger spent a significant portion of last season on the sidelines thanks to an offensive line that had a lot of trouble protecting him. Part of the reason for that was the season-ending injury suffered by left tackle Orlando Pace in the first game of the year.

Running back Steven Jackson had a leg injury that caused him to miss a number of games and really put a lot pressure on their defense, as the offense couldn't control the clock to keep the other unit fresh.

Wide receiver Torry Holt played the entire season at less than 100 percent and yet was still able to top the 1,000 yard mark yet again. He should have a big year now that he is fully healthy and has Bulger back under center.

In a major move, the team decided to let veteran wide receiver Isaac Bruce leave in the offseason. Bruce isn't nearly the player he used to be, but letting the wideout go after all he did for the franchise still was somewhat surprising.

The defense isn't anything to write home about, which is why the offense needs to be clicking on all cylinders for the Rams to have any chance of competing for a playoff spot.

Defensive Leonard Little is arguably the unit's best player, which says more about the team's lack of impact defenders than how talented he is.

St. Louis did manage to upgrade their special teams unit in the offseason following the retirement of veteran kicker Jeff Wilkins, who was showing his age the past couple of seasons. The team brought in kicker Josh Brown from the Seattle Seahawks, a guy who has a great leg and kicks well under pressure.

The move is even that much bigger considering the Rams took a great player away from their top division rival.

The Rams should be able to compete for the NFC West division title, where parity reigns. The team likely needs to show significant improvement, possibly even make the playoffs, for head coach Scott Linehan to avoid losing his job.
