Seattle Seahawks News and Information
Posted 3/26/2009
The Seattle Seahawks made the playoffs yet again in 2007, but it was another disappointing finish.

The team received good news when head coach Mike Holmgren agreed to push off his retirement from the NFL for one more year and coach in 2008.

Quarterback Matt Hasselback is one of the top players at his position in the NFC despite the little talent he has around him to work with.

The Seahawks used to have a ton of offensive weapons at his disposal, but those days appear to be long gone.

The offensive line is still very solid, but the loss of guard Steve Hutchinson had an impact on the running game. Running back Shaun Alexander lost a few steps last season and was once again dealing with injuries, so the team cut the former MVP loose.

Looking to upgrade the running backs in the offseason, the team brought in both Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett, two players who aren't exactly stars in the league. Jones has had his share of injury problems in Dallas and had the starting job taken away from him by Marion Barber, and Duckett has never established himself as starting material.

At wide receiver, the talent has really gone downhill the past few seasons. The team's top wideout, Deion Branch, will miss most if not all of the season after suffering a serious knee injury last year.

The team traded Darrell Jackson before the start of last season, leaving Bobby Engram as the star of the show.

Engram is a solid wideout but certainly not a No. 1 guy. He will be joined by Nate Burleson, who showed lots of ability after a big season with the Minnesota Vikings but has been very quiet ever since.

The defense is still pretty strong and has very few weak links, especially in the secondary.

Seattle should compete for the NFC West title thanks to the parity in the division. Every team has major question marks, so the Seahawks should find themselves in the playoffs yet again.
