New Orleans Saints 2011 Playoffs Preview
Posted 1/4/2011
The New Orleans Saints come into the NFL playoffs trying to shake off a surprising home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It's been a season full of inconsistency for New Orleans, and a lot of it can be blamed on the number of injuries at the running back position. Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas both missed much of the season, changing the way the Saints played offensively.
Even quarterback Drew Brees hasn't been the same player. Brees has thrown a lot of interceptions this year because he's been forced to try and make more plays in the passing game.
The Saints now have both Bush and Thomas back in the lineup, and it gives them a more balanced offensive attack.
New Orleans has also struggled to generate the large amount of turnovers that propelled them to the Super Bowl last year. If their defense isn't causing turnovers, they are going to have a hard time getting off the field.
It's always extremely difficult to defend a Super Bowl title, but the Saints look like they might be up to the challenge. They are one of the few teams to ever beat the Falcons in their own building with Matt Ryan at quarterback, so that has to give them a lot of confidence.
