The Houston Texans failed to continue their three-game winning streak, falling to the Minnesot Vikings, 28-21. Houston Texans Season Preview

The Houston Texans took a giant step forward in 2007 and are looking to be a serious playoff contender in 2008.

Quarterback Matt Schaub was solid in his first year as the teams starting quarterback, but injuries kept him off the field. Once again, the teams offensive line proved to be its Achilles heel.

The offensive line must show improvement in 2008 so as to keep Schaub healthy and under center. However, the team does have a capable backup quarterback in Sage Rosenfels, who performed surprisingly well last year when Schaub was out due to various injuries.

One of the biggest keys to Schaubs success is wide receiver Andre Johnson, who missed half of last season with an injury. Johnson and Schaub were spectacular when they were on the field together, especially late in the season.

The two players are sure to get in plenty of reps together in training camp, and they could really develop a great chemistry before the start of the season.

Running back could be an issue again this season. Ahman Green is said to be 100 percent healthy, but he certainly isnt getting any younger or faster. The Texans selected running back Steve Slaton in the NFL Draft, and he could really fit well in this system. However, Slaton also been known to be injury-prone, and many question whether he is big enough for the league.

Meanwhile, the defense continues to improve, most specifically defensive end Mario Williams, who continues to make critics of his selection over running back Reggie Bush look silly.

Williams showed tremendous improvement last season over the previous year, and the Texans are looking for really big things out of him in 2008.

The Texans should be able to make a serious push for a playoff spot this year, but a still suspect offensive line combined with playing in a very difficult division and conference make the postseason an unlikely destination.
