The Detroit Lions made a run for the postseason only to collapse down the stretch, putting some serious heat on the team and leading to the firing of head coach Jim Schwartz. Jim Caldwell, the former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and more recently offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, takes over at the helm and will try to help Matthew Stafford take the next step.

Stafford continues to be erratic throwing the ball, and the Lions have also struggled to find another pass-catching weapon to put next to Calvin Johnson. Reggie Bush has been a perfect fit for the offense, but he's not a running back that can shoulder a big load and his next injury always seems right around the corner. The defense also needs some work, particularly in the secondary.

The Lions should once again be in the playoff hunt, but in a division with the Packers and Bears, they are going to find it very difficult to reach the postseason.

The Detroit Lions play all their home games at Ford Field in Detroit, MI
