Detroit Lions Tickets

The Detroit Lions were hoping to just win some games and have some fun in 2008, but they weren't successful doing either. In fact, the Lions did not win a single game all season long, finishing an unthinkable 0-16.

But hey, there is some good news! If you go 0-16, it's pretty much impossible to finish the following year in any worse shape, right? Well, I guess we will find out this year.

The team does have some major issues, beginning with the quarterback situation. Detroit elected to trade veteran Jon Kitna to the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason, which means Daunte Culpepper and Dan Orlovsky are battling it out for the starting job. That's not exactly what I'd call competition bringing out the best in two quarterbacks.

The good news is that if they can ever find someone competent under center, that guy will absolutely love throwing the ball to wide receiver Calvin Johnson, one of the budding stars in the NFL.

Still, the NFL Draft is right around the corner and signs are beginning to point toward the drafting of Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Matthew Stafford. For the record, I think he is going to be a huge bust. Nonetheless, even if they draft him, that certainly doesn't mean they will throw him into the fire immediately. They learned that lesson before with Joey Harrington.

Detroit will take on the AFC North and NFC West this year, which means three very tough games and five that are very winnable. Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Arizona will be definite losses, but the other five teams are beatable, even for the lowly Lions.

The Lions play in one of the worst divisions in football and are matched up with THE worst in the NFC West, so they can't do too much complaining about their schedule this year.
