Dallas Cowboys

News and Information
The Dallas Cowboys were predicted by many to be the representative for the NFC in the Super Bowl, but things fell apart for America's team and they failed to even reach the postseason.

Injuries, off-the-field distractions and Terrell Owens' tantrums were just way too much for the Cowboys to overcome.

The team had to try and overcome the injury to quarterback Tony Romo's pinkie finger, which forced a time-share between Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger under center. Let's just say that didn't end well.

With an offseason to heal and T.O. and Pacman Jones released, the Cowboys hope they can get back to just playing football and not having to deal with all this other stuff surrounding their team.

Of course, Romo now will have to get used to the absence of Owens and his play-making ability. It will hurt losing such a talented receiver, but I'm not sure we would ever get to see the real Romo with Owens constantly in his face about throwing passes his way.

The schedule will be tough as usual, beginning with the six games against NFC East opponents. They also have to play the NFC South, which means road games against Tampa Bay and New Orleans.

At least they gave the Falcons and Panthers at home, both of which were playoff teams in 2008.

The Cowboys didn't get too unlucky with the two random teams they will play, as they will host the Seattle Seahawks and travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers.

Dallas Cowboys 2008 Article

For the Dallas Cowboys, last season's terribly disappointing conclusion is still fresh in their minds.

The Cowboys appeared to be the clear favorite in the NFC to reach the Super Bowl, with only the Green Bay Packers providing a challenge. However, the Cowboys were stunned on their home turf by the rival New York Giants in the second round of the playoffs.

Heading into 2008, it appears that owner Jerry Jones is dead set on winning the Super Bowl.

In the offseason, Jones gave wide receiver Terrell Owens a contract extension, as well as running back Marion Barber and cornerback Terrence Newman. All three players were extremely happy with their offers and should be committed to showing Jones they were worth the money.

Barber has never been a feature back and many question whether he can take the beating over the course of a full season, but the Cowboys seem confident in the very physical runner.

It also helps that the Cowboys select running back Felix Jones in the NFL Draft. Jones, who some felt was just as talented as college backfield mate Darren McFadden, will be able to spell Barber and could also see time as a kickoff or punt returner.

The teams defense should be significantly better than last year thanks to the addition of cornerback Pacman Jones.

The team traded a fourth round pick to the Tennessee Titans for Jones, who they hope will stay out of trouble and resurrect his career in Dallas.

Jones could also become a factor on both punt and kick returns, which would also help boost the special teams units.

Dallas is still a little shaky at the linebacker position, but head coach Wade Phillips always has plenty of defensive wrinkles to help offset any weaknesses on that side of the ball.

The Cowboys are very balanced on both side of the ball and are certainly the NFC favorite to make it to the Super Bowl, especially if quarterback Brett Favre doesnt come back to the Packers.
