Kansas City Royals third baseman Alex Gordon is nearing a return after being out with a right hip flexor tear.
Gordon has been spending time hitting in the batting cages and is hopeful to be activated from the disabled list as early as next weekend.
Manager Trey Hillman said that he hopes Gordon can take some ground balls at third base in the coming days to gauge his mobility.
Gordon was hitting .254 with 14 home runs and 54 RBIs at the time of his injury. He has show improvement from his rookie season and is considered one of the top prospects in all of baseball.
The Royals consider Gordon to be the cornerstone for the future of the franchise as they try and build a contender around him. |
