It certainly wasnt as easy as it should have been, but the Maryland Terrapins held off the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens for a 14-7 victory in their season opener at Byrd Stadium.
The Terps failed to score in the first quarter and only had a touchdown at halftime thanks to three missed field goals by their kicker.
The Terps had a 14-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Delaware seemed to grab the momentum until a costly interception late sealed their fate.
Maryland played fairly well defensively but was careless with the football, as quarterback Jordan Steffy threw two interceptions and fumbled once.
Steffy later injured his right thumb and was removed from the game in favor of backup Chris Turner, who the crowd was chanting for throughout the game. |
