The NBA has fined and suspended Atlanta Hawks forward Marvin Williams for one game next year for his flagrant foul on Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo.

The foul occurred during Game 7 of the series between the two teams.

Williams threw Rondo to the floor while the guard was in midair on a fastbreak.

He said he and Rondo are friends and he was trying to hold him up, not throw him to the floor.
