Atlanta Hawks general manager Billy Knight has resigned after six years with the team.

It is a curious time for Knight to resign given that his team made the playoffs this year and pushed the top seeded Celtics to the brink of elimination in the first round.

However, some questionable draft picks and free agent signings might have been his ultimate undoing.

Knight said he is happy to be leaving the organization in a better state than when he came in.
