The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive tackle Rob Meier to a four-year contract extension that includes a significant raise from the just over $2 million he is earning per season right now.
Meier, who is now under contract through 2012, is replacing Marcus Stroud in the starting lineup. Stroud was traded to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason.
Meier has become the teams most versatile and durable defensive lineman over the past eight seasons.
He was drafted in the seventh round by Jacksonville in 2000.
