The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired shortstop Angel Berroa from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a minor league infielder.

The Dodgers are in need of a shortstop with Rafael Furcal on the disabled list with a sore back, an injury that is considered to be chronic.

Berroa was in the Royals farm system at the time of the trade but was doing very well at Triple-A, hitting .291 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI’s.

Furcal is hitting .366 but has been on the disabled list for more than a month now.
